Air India has announced that it will restart most of its reduced flight operations from September 1, after temporarily scaling back services due to rising fuel prices.
The airline had cut several international flights during July and August, citing higher fuel costs. Services were suspended on seven major routes, including Delhi–Chicago, Delhi–Newark, Mumbai–New York, Delhi–Shanghai, Chennai–Singapore, Mumbai–Dhaka and Delhi–Malé.
Along with the international reductions, Air India had also halted around 20% to 25% of its domestic services during the same period.
Looking ahead, the carrier said it is planning to increase the number of flights on multiple international routes in the winter schedule. Frequencies are expected to rise for services to Zurich, Vienna, Melbourne, Tokyo and New York.
