Jewellery gold prices in Chennai climbed again on Thursday, with the rate rising by Rs 1,200 per sovereign during evening trade.

According to the reported price movement, gold had seen sharp swings in recent days in line with changes in the international market. On August 5, the sovereign price rose by Rs 2,240, followed by another increase of Rs 2,160 on Wednesday.

In Thursday’s morning trade, prices were expected to change but remained steady at Rs 1,10,000 per sovereign, with gold priced at Rs 13,750 per gram.

However, by evening, the rate jumped by Rs 150 per gram, pushing the sovereign price to Rs 1,11,200 and the per-gram price to Rs 13,900.

Silver prices were unchanged, with silver selling at Rs 250 per gram and Rs 2,50,000 per kilogram.
