Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday advised a group of Members of Parliament who recently switched political sides not to be troubled by criticism, telling them, “I am with you.” The remarks were made during a breakfast interaction in New Delhi.
According to the report, around 45 MPs attended the meeting, including those who left the Trinamool Congress to join the Nationalist Citizens Party, MPs aligned with Eknath Shinde after moving from Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena, and MPs from the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist People’s Party.
Addressing MPs from West Bengal, Modi stressed the need to remain in constant touch with the public and said the state’s progress is vital to the country’s growth. He added that more significant projects are in the pipeline for the state and called for development that is not limited to West Bengal alone, highlighting the need for better connectivity and faster growth in the North-East as well.
The Prime Minister also urged MPs to maintain good health through annual mental and physical check-ups. He cautioned against using derogatory language in TV debates, asked them to uphold dignity at all times, and encouraged active engagement with youth through platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and X to communicate government welfare schemes.
Modi further advised MPs to speak in Parliament without anger or shouting and warned them not to get trapped in what he described as “Delhi’s web.”
