India and China have jointly agreed to resolve pending border-related issues and other concerns through dialogue at diplomatic and military levels, according to a statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
The India–China relationship had deteriorated after the 2020 clash in the Galwan area of eastern Ladakh. Since then, both sides have continued engagements through Special Representatives, military commanders and the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India–China Border Affairs (WMCC).
A WMCC meeting was held in New Delhi on Thursday, where the two sides discussed matters including boundary delineation, border management and cross-border cooperation.
The ministry said both sides reviewed the situation along the Line of Actual Control and underlined that maintaining peace and stability in border areas is essential for advancing bilateral ties.
They agreed to use existing diplomatic and military mechanisms—particularly meetings at the level of local military commanders—to address all outstanding issues, with the aim of preventing tensions and avoiding incidents arising from misunderstandings.
