Andhra Pradesh is set to hold investor outreach meetings in Chennai on August 11 and in Coimbatore on August 12, aiming to engage industrial investors based in Tamil Nadu, according to industry sources.
The meetings are intended to directly pitch Andhra Pradesh as an investment destination. Industry representatives said invitations have been sent to companies in Tamil Nadu to attend the sessions.
However, the sources claimed that Tamil Nadu government officials have been contacting businesses with a confidential request not to take part in the Andhra-led events.
Industry representatives said Andhra Pradesh is offering a package of incentives to attract firms, including low-cost land, electricity tax exemptions, stamp duty and registration fee waivers, and capital subsidies.
They added that if Tamil Nadu matches similar incentives, companies inclined to invest in the state would be less likely to be drawn away by competing offers.
