Madurai: Minister Nirmal Kumar on Sunday said there is information that the DMK may stage a walkout when the constituency redrawing (delimitation) bill is taken up.
Speaking to reporters in Madurai, he questioned whether the DMK would support the bill, oppose it, or choose to walk out. He alleged that a walkout would amount to indirect support for the legislation.
The minister further claimed that reports suggest the DMK had already given an assurance of a walkout in support of the bill, and demanded that the party clarify its stand by either voting against it or stating its position openly.
He also said the Chief Minister Vijay would convene an all-party meeting when necessary, adding that on the Cauvery issue “everyone is clear” and that there is no need for an all-party meet when the course of action is already decided. He urged the DMK to clearly state its position on the delimitation bill, citing public interest.
