Iran has ruled out direct negotiations with the United States, saying any communication will take place only through intermediaries, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Speaking in Tehran, Araghchi said intermediaries are working to shape the conditions needed to restart talks between Washington and Tehran. He added that an environment for negotiations is being created, but warned that it would not materialise unless the US stops what he described as attacks carried out in violation of agreements.
Araghchi also said Iran would not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Separately, Iran’s parliament deputy speaker Hamidreza Haji Babaei warned that countries helping the US to attack Iran would not be able to escape Iranian missile strikes.
In related regional developments, the Houthi forces said they carried out missile and drone attacks on Yemen’s Mocha port, and claimed responsibility for a drone attack targeting Aramco oil infrastructure in Saudi Arabia’s Jazan region.
