New Delhi: As proceedings in Parliament remain disrupted, eight MPs from the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 10, party leader and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule confirmed.
Sule said the delegation has sought an official appointment and will meet the Prime Minister at 11 am at the Parliament office. She noted that the continued disruptions have prevented MPs from raising several constituency-level concerns on the floor of the House.
According to Sule, the MPs plan to discuss a range of Maharashtra-related issues, including pending constituency demands and the lack of fund allocation for MPs in the state. She also recalled that she and party chief Sharad Pawar had earlier met the Prime Minister during the Monsoon Session to discuss constituency problems, the NEET issue and students’ demands.
On questions related to the proposed delimitation bill, Sule said it would be premature to comment before it is introduced, adding that the party would take a collective decision after the bill is tabled and would discuss each bill with alliance partners.
Both Sharad Pawar and Sule did not give a direct response when asked whether the party would join the NDA, though reports suggest the party may back the Centre on the women’s reservation bill and the delimitation bill during the session.
