A Chennai court has ordered summons to actor and BJP leader Sarathkumar in connection with a cheque dishonour case. The Saidapet court has asked him to appear in person on September 10.
Sarathkumar, founder of the Samathuva Makkal Katchi, had merged his party with the BJP in 2024. The complaint relates to a loan he is said to have taken to clear his debts.
According to the case details, Chennai resident N. Sreekrishna allegedly lent Sarathkumar Rs 2 crore in April 2025. A cheque issued by Sarathkumar towards repayment was returned by the bank due to insufficient funds.
Following this, advocate R.S. Ravindran filed a cheque fraud complaint on behalf of Sreekrishna before the Saidapet court. After hearing the matter, the court directed that summons be issued, requiring Sarathkumar’s personal appearance on September 10.
