Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised Indian boxer Lovlina for raising an objection after noticing an incorrect depiction of India’s map during the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
According to the account shared, Lovlina spotted a printed map at a restaurant used by athletes where India’s North-Eastern states were missing. She immediately brought the issue to the attention of the restaurant management and registered her protest.
Following her intervention, the restaurant management acknowledged the mistake, apologised, and said the map would be corrected.
During an interaction with Commonwealth medal winners, Modi highlighted Lovlina’s patriotism and alertness. Lovlina, who won a silver medal in the 75 kg category, told the Prime Minister that she noticed the error while the team was celebrating and that the organisers made the changes after she pointed it out.
Modi said her decision to insist on correcting the map was significant, adding that the video of the incident was not ordinary and would be remembered for a long time.
