A meeting of Christian religious leaders was held at DMK leader M.K. Stalin’s residence in Chennai, even as an all-party MPs’ meeting took place in the city under Chief Minister Vijay’s leadership.
According to the report, Bishop Chinnappa, Paul Dhinakaran and pastors representing 16 churches attended the discussion with Stalin.
The outreach comes at a time when a TVK–Congress alliance has been formed and the DMK is said to be moving closer to the BJP side. During the meeting, Stalin reportedly assured the leaders that the DMK would stand with minority communities.
Church sources said that while Chief Minister Vijay has rallied allied MPs around the issue of constituency delimitation, Stalin has renewed direct engagement with Christian leaders by centring the discussion on the “Foreign Contribution Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2026”.
Stalin is said to have promised that DMK MPs would work either to get the bill withdrawn or to have it referred to a Parliamentary Joint Committee, the sources added.
