Tiruppur Corporation has landed in controversy after the Municipal Administration Department issued a sudden transfer order for an officer who had already been placed under suspension over alleged irregularities.
The officer, Rajasekar, served as an assistant commissioner and had earlier worked as a revenue section supervisor. Complaints relate to events in 2023 involving the corporation-owned multi-level parking facility on Kamaraj Road.
According to the allegations, the leaseholder Aravind Sakthivel was threatened and forced out, a fake withdrawal letter was prepared as if it was submitted by him, and the deposit amount was returned from the corporation’s own account.
Rajasekar was suspended in connection with the complaint. However, even after a month, a report on the suspension had reportedly not been forwarded to the Municipal Administration Commissioner.
Amid this, the department ordered Rajasekar’s transfer to Vellore Corporation. Following this, Tiruppur Corporation informed the commissioner about the suspension and kept the transfer order on hold, leading to fresh criticism within civic circles.
