Coimbatore: We The Leaders chief Annamalai on Sunday said India’s defence equipment manufacturing has become “a source of dread” for countries across the world.

He was speaking at the valedictory of the ‘Coimbatore Swadeshi Expo and Food Festival’, organised by the Tamil Nadu Swadeshi Awareness Movement and Ramraj Cotton at Rathinam Grand Hall, Eachanari.

At the event, Annamalai released Major Madhankumar’s book Operation Sindoor and urged youngsters and college students to read it. Recalling commando Prabhakaran, he said the soldier’s sacrifice for the nation evokes pride and emotion.

He also referred to Major Mukund, saying that though he is no more, the film Amaran has helped his story reach people widely. Annamalai said Major Madhankumar’s explanations on his YouTube channel helped the public understand the operation more clearly than reports carried in newspapers and on television.

Annamalai said India, once economically weaker, has grown to a stage where it can carry out operations like Operation Sindoor with resolve. He added that India’s economic growth is many times higher than Pakistan’s and claimed the Indian armed forces inflicted damage worth Rs 14,500 crore on enemies, while stressing that today’s youth are aware and firm on issues such as patriotism.
