Actor Dhanush is said to be showing sustained interest in entering politics, with reports claiming the state government has asked the intelligence wing to keep track of his activities. The directive is attributed to Chief Minister Vijay, according to sources cited in the report.

Over the past year, Dhanush has reportedly been exploring a political launch and has now begun efforts to convert his fan club into a political organisation. As an initial step, he unveiled a flag for the fan club during his birthday event, where he also made indirect political remarks.

The report says membership enrolment has been started constituency-wise. In Coimbatore district, enrolment has begun in 10 Assembly constituencies, and organisers have been instructed to complete enrolment across all 234 constituencies within this year.

Intelligence sources quoted in the report claim Dhanush has a large youth following and is focusing his outreach on young people. The report also notes that his fan club activities include welfare assistance, support for students’ education expenses, blood donation and food distribution.

With the fan network being expanded from district units to constituency units and social media activity also being tracked, the report says a special intelligence team has been formed to monitor fan-club operations of Dhanush and other actors and submit periodic reports. It adds that monitoring of Dhanush’s organisation’s online activity is said to be under the supervision of Vijay’s private secretary, Jagadish.
