New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, seeking a discussion in the House on police action taken during a recent student protest in Delhi.

The protest was held against an alleged question paper leak. On July 21, students attempted to march towards Parliament, but police stopped the procession and dispersed the crowd using lathicharge, according to the report.

Opposition parties have been staging repeated protests in Parliament, condemning the police action and disrupting proceedings. The continued disruptions have affected the functioning of the House.

The Centre has said it is ready to address the issue and respond to questions raised by the opposition. With no change in the opposition’s stance, Shah’s letter has now come to light, reiterating the request for a Lok Sabha debate and stating he is prepared to answer any questions.
