Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran has criticised the state government for moving a resolution in the Assembly opposing constituency delimitation, calling it contrary to Tamil Nadu’s welfare.
In a statement, he said the move undermines the spirit of democracy, stressing that the principle of “one vote, one value” is fundamental. He argued that delimitation aligned with population changes ensures every citizen’s voice carries equal weight in Parliament.
Nagendran said delimitation is not merely about redrawing boundaries but about securing proper representation for people. He pointed out that the Union government has assured that decisions will be taken in a way that does not harm any state, including southern states.
He added that opposing such reforms “blindly” is not healthy for the state’s future and urged the government to reconsider its stand.
