New Delhi: India’s cumulative ethanol supply has crossed 8 billion litres in the ongoing 2025-26 ethanol supply year, according to figures released by the All India Distillers’ Association (AIDA).
AIDA said more than 930 million litres were supplied in July alone. Of this, 710 million litres came from grain-based feedstock.
In June, total ethanol supply stood at 1.03 billion litres, including 750 million litres of grain-based ethanol. As a result, grain-based ethanol’s share in overall supply rose from 73% in June to 76% in July.
Within July’s grain-based output, maize and surplus grains from the Food Corporation of India contributed about 300 million litres each. Ethanol from damaged foodgrains accounted for 110 million litres.
Supply from sugarcane-based feedstock in July was 220 million litres, lower than 280 million litres in June. AIDA’s Deputy Director General Bharathi Balaji called the 8-billion-litre mark a key milestone and pointed to higher blending, flex-fuel vehicles and wider ethanol use as ways to fully utilise existing capacity.
