Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday advised young people to stay away from shortcuts, warning that in the current “reels” era, chasing quick success can cut their journey short. He also urged students and youth to read autobiographies to learn from the struggles and experiences of others.
Modi was speaking in New Delhi at the release of former President Ram Nath Kovind’s autobiography, Triumph of the Indian Republic: My Life, My Struggles. Kovind, who served as India’s 14th President from 2017 to 2022, attended the event.
The programme was attended by Chief Justice of India Suryakant and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, among others. Modi said Kovind’s life showed how a person could overcome difficult circumstances with determination and reach the country’s highest constitutional office.
The Prime Minister noted that Kovind continues to be active in public life even after demitting office, and highlighted his work related to the “One Nation, One Election” initiative. Modi said the autobiography could become a symbol of India’s democratic tradition and serve as inspiration for the younger generation.
Calling for more youth with resilience who can face challenges without being defeated by circumstances, Modi said such a mindset would help build the path towards a self-reliant India.
