Arappor Iyakkam has submitted a complaint to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) alleging that lake silt worth more than Rs 8 crore was illegally removed from a lake in Tiruvannamalai district. The complaint names former minister EV Velu, his son EV Kumaran and others.
According to the petition, a DMK conference was held on December 14, 2025 on a 125-acre site said to be owned by Kumaran. The group alleged that soil was unlawfully excavated from a nearby lake at Malappambadi village and dumped at the conference venue to level the ground.
The complaint further claimed that the Revenue Department, the district collectorate and municipal officials were complicit in the alleged soil theft. Arappor Iyakkam has sought action against the former minister, his son and the officials named as accomplices.
The organisation said it has submitted photographs and video evidence along with the complaint. The development comes after DVAC had earlier registered a case on June 25 in connection with an alleged Rs 3.2 crore irregularity in Karur, in which EV Velu and 10 others were named, the petition noted.
