Ahead of Independence Day celebrations, the President’s police medals have been announced for officers across India. The honours are awarded based on performance, achievements and reputation in service.
As per the announcement, 92 personnel have been selected for the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service, 301 for the President’s Medal for Gallantry, and 604 for the Union Home Ministry’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
From Tamil Nadu, three officers have been named for the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service: J. Vijay Anand (Additional SP), K. Ramachandran (Additional SP) and S. Kumar (Assistant Commandant).
In addition, 17 personnel from Tamil Nadu have been selected for the Union Home Ministry’s Medal for Distinguished Service. The list includes Malathi (Inspector), Bhaskar (Sub-Inspector), Sivasankar (ASP), Somasundaram (ASP), Govindaraju (ASP), Shanmugam (DSP), Patharunnisa Begum (Inspector), Madhimaran (Inspector), Saraswathi (Inspector), Mariyappan (Inspector), Letchumi (Inspector), Jaya Ilavarasi (Inspector), Gopal (Inspector), Manimaran (Assistant Commandant), Lakshmi (Inspector), Senthilkumar (Sub-Inspector) and Sathuragiri (Sub-Inspector).
Separately, the President’s Medal has also been announced for 21 CBI personnel nationwide for notable service. From Tamil Nadu, Paul Pandian, a head constable with the Madurai CBI Anti-Corruption Branch, has been selected for the honour.
