Chennai: Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran has urged Chief Minister Vijay to arrest a TAVEG supporter who allegedly posted derogatory remarks about Lord Murugan on social media.
In a statement, Nagendran alleged that since coming to power, TAVEG ministers and the Speaker have repeatedly spoken proudly about one religion while making disparaging remarks about other religions and the Tamil language. He said a party supporter, following that trend, had insulted Murugan and Hindu beliefs in an “extremely vulgar” manner.
Questioning the Chief Minister’s silence, Nagendran asked why the person had not been arrested even after a case was registered. He claimed the lack of action raised doubts about whether the government intended to protect such individuals.
Nagendran said Murugan is worshipped by crores of people and demanded immediate action. He warned that if steps were not taken, the TAVEG government could face major protests, and cautioned the administration not to test public patience.
