An environmental awareness rally will be held in Chennai on Saturday under the leadership of Annamalai, president of the organisation ‘We The Leaders’, with the stated aim of creating public awareness on environmental protection.
Annamalai, a former Tamil Nadu BJP president, has quit the party and launched ‘We The Leaders’. He has also indicated that he plans to start a political party soon.
As part of the group’s initiative of undertaking one social service activity every month, the organisation conducted awareness programmes across Tamil Nadu last month on drug eradication.
This month’s focus is on environmental protection. Recently, volunteers led by Annamalai carried out cleanliness drives at the Kanyakumari and Thoothukudi beaches and along the Vaigai river in Madurai.
The Chennai rally is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm near the Rajarathinam Stadium in Egmore, where Annamalai is expected to address participants. Arulselvi, wife of late actor Vivek, and others are set to take part.
