Hindu Makkal Katchi leader Arjun Sampath on Friday said constituency delimitation could significantly increase Tamil Nadu’s representation in the Lok Sabha.
Speaking in Chennai, he claimed that the state’s current 39 parliamentary constituencies could rise to 59 through the delimitation exercise, which he said would bring additional representation for Tamil Nadu.
Arjun Sampath also alleged that some political parties were spreading “misleading views” about delimitation. He said that, over time, parties would recognise its benefits and come to support it.
In the same remarks, he credited the Narendra Modi-led government with progress across sectors, citing ethanol-blended fuel, solar energy initiatives and defence growth. He added that India would become a global power by 2047, the centenary of Independence, and urged people to work with commitment toward that goal.
