Lucknow witnessed a successful test of the indigenously developed loitering munition, Divyastra MK3, with officials confirming that the system was trialled effectively, including a launch from a moving jeep.
The suicide drone is powered by an indigenous jet engine developed by DG Propulsion. Authorities said the programme achieved a key milestone within a year of its launch, with the platform built using Indian-made materials and without importing any required components.
Officials described the trial as more than a routine test flight, saying it demonstrates India’s ability to design, manufacture and operate a precision strike system entirely within the country—highlighting the progress of the self-reliance initiative.
In a related development, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully completed final-stage development trials of a precision-guided missile launched from an unmanned aerial vehicle at a test range near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the teams for the successful tests, according to officials.
