New Delhi: A Tamil Nadu Member of Parliament, described as close to Rahul Gandhi, has drawn attention in Delhi’s political circles after a reported meeting with foreign diplomats.
According to reports, the MP took a few fellow Congress MPs to the embassy of Denmark in New Delhi, where they had breakfast with Denmark’s envoy to India. During the interaction, they are said to have discussed Denmark starting new industries in Tamil Nadu.
The episode has surprised many and led to speculation about the intent behind the outreach—whether it was meant to signal proximity to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay or to project confidence about a future Congress government.
The meeting has also raised procedural questions. Observers noted that ministers, MLAs or MPs are generally expected to seek prior clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs before meeting foreign envoys, including informing the ministry about the purpose and agenda. It remains unclear whether such permission was obtained in this case.
