Former AIADMK minister Udayakumar on Friday issued a sharp public warning to Chief Minister Vijay during a statement in Madurai, linking it to what he alleged were attempts to weaken or take over the AIADMK.
Udayakumar claimed that key AIADMK functionaries were being “poached” by the ruling party through misuse of power. He also alleged that a digital team was being used to pay content creators and build a large social media image for the party.
He further criticised the party in power for reaching office within two years of its formation, alleging it had done so without any record of sacrifice. Referring to remarks by Aadhav Arjuna, he said claims were being made that Vijay should become the country’s Prime Minister.
Stating that any effort to seize or destroy the AIADMK would not succeed as long as the party’s last cadre remained, Udayakumar said that if such a situation arose, “we will not remain alive,” and added that it was unclear whether Vijay would remain alive either. He said he hoped the Chief Minister would not create circumstances that would push them to become a “suicide army.”
