Vice President C P Radhakrishnan on Friday said India’s goal should be to become the world’s No.1 nation, addressing students at the convocation ceremony of SRM University in Chennai.
Congratulating the graduating students, he said a “developed India” is achievable and called on young people to act as responsible citizens who contribute to the country’s progress. He expressed confidence that India could emerge as a major developed economy by 2047.
Radhakrishnan also noted SRM University’s focus on emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, research, quantum technologies, robotics and other advanced fields. He cited India’s free supply of Covid-19 vaccines to 100 countries as an example of the country’s global contribution.
Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi Arlekar, who attended the event, said discipline remains essential in life regardless of achievements. He added that students from Tamil Nadu are performing well across sectors, including technology, and urged youth to use their knowledge not only for personal growth but also for national development.
