Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has strongly condemned the shooting deaths of three Tamils in Karnataka and called for a fair investigation into the incident.
In a statement, he said Anthony Sami, John Rose Peter and Kumar—Tamil residents of villages in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district—were shot dead in the early hours of August 15, 2026, in the Cauvery wildlife sanctuary area, allegedly by personnel of the Karnataka Forest Department.
The Chief Minister said the explanation offered by the Karnataka Forest Department was not acceptable. He urged the Karnataka government to constitute a high-level inquiry committee and ensure strict punishment for those found responsible.
He also asked the Karnataka government to extend all necessary assistance to the affected families and to take steps to prevent such incidents from recurring.
