The Al Ain Indian Social Centre celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day in a spirited manner, bringing together community members for a formal ceremony and cultural events.
Centre president Madhu Omanakuttan presided over the function, while general secretary Mubarak Musthafa delivered the welcome address.
Indian Consulate official Rohit Misra hoisted the Indian national flag and paid tribute. Treasurer Musthafa Vattaparambil conveyed greetings on the occasion.
The event also featured attractive morning performances by Indian schoolgirl students. Deputy general secretary Harris proposed the vote of thanks, as office-bearers and the public participated enthusiastically.
