Chennai: We The Leaders founder Annamalai on Sunday claimed he possesses audio recordings in which ministers of the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) government allegedly ask for bribes.
Speaking at an environmental awareness rally held at Egmore in Chennai, Annamalai said decisions for Tamil Nadu should not be taken from Delhi or from “some house in Chennai”. He also remarked that while some say he no longer talks politics, political talk is the easiest thing in the world.
Referring to the change in governance in the state, he said a “revolution” has taken place and the government should be given at least a year. He alleged that attempts are being made to topple the administration by “catching MLAs”.
Annamalai said it is true that Chief Minister Vijay stands against corruption, but alleged that corruption has resurfaced. He claimed he has audio in which some ministers ask for “2 or 3 percent” as commission, and said he would bring it to the Chief Minister’s attention before creating a public issue.
He also spoke about reports that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had made an offer to him, saying Shah had asked him to take responsibility from Delhi for three years, which he said he declined. Annamalai further criticised the proposed Mekedatu dam plan linked to Karnataka Chief Minister Shivakumar, suggested allocating savings from the state budget to rural development, government schools and cleaning water bodies, and said personal attacks in politics are turning youth away.
