Congress minister Rajeshkumar has appealed to political leaders to avoid what he described as “low-quality” criticism and derogatory language in public discourse.

He noted that the Tourism Department’s grant demand is scheduled to be taken up in the Tamil Nadu Assembly on August 19. He also referred to ongoing work to bring a major tourism project worth Rs 200 crore to Mamallapuram.

Rajeshkumar said it was wrong for senior politicians, including Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran, to make such remarks. He also criticised Opposition leader Udhayanidhi for targeting the TVK as a “joker party,” saying the DMK should instead examine the reasons it failed to come to power.

Pointing to past instances, the minister warned that the use of derogatory words had already pushed the DMK into a difficult situation, and urged leaders to maintain dignity in political debate.
