Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday to take part in the South state chief ministers’ conference.
The conference, organised by the Union Home Ministry, will be held on Wednesday at a private star hotel in Kovalam, near Mamallapuram. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, Karnataka Chief Minister Sivakumar, Kerala Chief Minister Satheesan, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Puducherry Chief Minister Rangasamy are expected to attend.
Shah will chair the meeting, which will also see participation from the chief secretaries of the six states and IAS officers from various departments. He is expected to fly from Delhi to Chennai on a special aircraft on Tuesday night and proceed to the venue.
According to the schedule, Shah will attend a dinner with the chief ministers on Tuesday night. After the conference on Wednesday, he is set to visit the Shore Temple in Mamallapuram before returning to Chennai and flying back to Delhi.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Congress chief Manickam Tagore has announced plans to hold a protest opposing Shah’s visit.
