An advanced holographic lens-based aiming device, known as a Holographic Weapon Sight, has been developed in Coimbatore for military applications.
The technology is designed to help shooters maintain accurate aim, and is being positioned as a significant step forward in firearm sighting systems used in the defence sector.
At present, many countries—including India—largely depend on the United States for such holographic weapon sight equipment. The Coimbatore development is being highlighted as an effort to change that dependence.
The development was featured in a Dinamalar TV segment, which described it as a notable innovation in gun technology for defence use.
