Islamabad: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan met his wife Bushra Bibi and his sister Noreen Niazi at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, nearly nine months after their last meeting.
Khan has been lodged in Adiala Jail since August 2023 after being convicted in corruption cases. In recent months, reports had circulated claiming he was on his deathbed inside the prison.
Following these repeated reports, Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered that Khan be shifted to a private hospital in Islamabad. The court also directed that family members be allowed weekly meetings and permitted him to speak to his sons over the phone.
In line with the court’s order, Bushra Bibi and Noreen Niazi met Khan in jail, with the interaction lasting around 15 minutes.
During the meeting, Noreen informed Khan about the court’s directive to move him to Shifa Hospital and discussed certain legal matters, according to the report.
