Chennai: A sharp confrontation unfolded in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly during discussions on grant demands, with members of DMK and TAVEG trading strong words.

Speaking in the House, Minister Rajmohan objected to the language used by DMK MLAs, alleging they addressed others in the singular and used terms such as “vada” and “poda”. He said such remarks were against Assembly decorum and should be avoided.

Rajmohan further alleged that DMK MLA Udumalai Jayakumar appeared to move forward “as if to strike”, raising his hand during the exchange. He also claimed that “a look” from Chief Minister Vijay would be enough to control TAVEG members.

The minister demanded action against the DMK MLA, stating that TAVEG ministers were being spoken to disrespectfully. The Deputy Speaker said action, if any, would be taken in line with House rules after the Speaker returns.
