Maharashtra’s food companies are facing heightened scrutiny after Tukaram Mundhe took charge as the state’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) chief, according to a Dinamalar TV report.

The report describes Mundhe as an officer with a reputation for firm, swift action, saying his approach has previously unsettled political circles in multiple departments.

Mundhe is a 2005-batch IAS officer. The report notes that he has been transferred 25 times over the past 21 years.

Dinamalar TV frames his current role as only the beginning of a larger push, suggesting that stricter enforcement and more decisive steps could follow in the coming period.
