Former Puducherry Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy has criticised Chief Minister N. Rangaswamy, alleging that the government is not showing sufficient commitment towards Puducherry’s demand for statehood.

Narayanasamy claimed that Rangaswamy had “betrayed” the people of Puducherry by failing to prioritise the issue.

He also accused the Chief Minister of boycotting the Southern Zonal Council meeting of southern state leaders, saying the absence reflected a lack of seriousness on key regional matters.

The remarks were made as part of a political attack on the current administration, with Narayanasamy urging greater focus on Puducherry’s long-pending statehood demand.
