New Delhi: Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi visited the Parliament Street police station on August 21 to submit a complaint linked to the Jantar Mantar protest over the alleged NEET question paper leak.
Rahul arrived with a youth who was injured during the agitation and alleged that police used force, including a lathi-charge, against young protesters. He urged the police to register a case immediately and began a sit-in protest inside the station.
Priyanka Gandhi and other Congress leaders joined the dharna. The party said the protest would continue until justice is ensured for the youths.
The complaint comes in the backdrop of clashes during the monsoon session period when protesters attempted to march towards Parliament on July 21. Police action to disperse the crowd and stone-pelting by protesters reportedly left injuries on both sides, and the Supreme Court is stated to be examining allegations of excesses.
Security was tightened outside the Parliament Street police station as Congress workers attempted to enter, and police stopped them amid heightened tension in the area.
