Rural Development and Water Resources Minister Anand’s 70-minute reply during the Tamil Nadu Assembly debate on grant demands on August 19 has set off fresh chatter within T.Ve.K. circles.
During the discussion, Anand went beyond departmental points and подробно outlined what he said were his key contributions to the party—whom he brought into T.Ve.K. and how he helped secure Assembly election opportunities for several individuals linked to the Vijay fan network.
According to party functionaries quoted in the report, Anand—who has been associated with Chief Minister Vijay for about 28 years and is seen as a senior figure in the Cabinet—has recently felt sidelined due to the influence of a small group around the Chief Minister. They claimed even his “fair recommendations” as general secretary are no longer being accepted.
The functionaries further alleged that those around Vijay are restricting access to the Chief Minister for district secretaries and MLAs, and that Anand has expressed distress that even changes involving his department, including the transfer of a secretary, happened without his knowledge.
They said Anand’s lengthy, note-free speech was meant to underline both his role in building the party and the frustration among what they described as “genuine Vijay supporters” in fan clubs, and added that party members are now watching for what action the Chief Minister may take.
