Gold prices in Chennai saw sharp intraday movement on Tuesday, rising in the morning before slipping significantly by evening.
According to the report, the fluctuation is linked to international market conditions, which continue to influence domestic bullion rates.
In Tamil Nadu, 22-carat jewellery gold had last traded on Saturday at Rs 14,505 per gram and Rs 1,16,040 per sovereign. Silver was sold at Rs 260 per gram.
By evening on Tuesday, gold fell by Rs 1,680 per sovereign to Rs 1,13,400. The per-gram rate dropped by Rs 210 to Rs 14,175.
Silver prices also declined, the report noted, though detailed updated rates were not specified.
