PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Tuesday made a pointed remark recalling a previous event linked to the opening of the Mettur dam. He said people may remember an earlier occasion when, during a ceremonial flower offering, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin allegedly dropped the flowers into the water along with a plastic bag.
Referring to the delay in opening, Anbumani said that even if it could not be done on June 2, people should at least be happy that it has been opened now. He added that if the earlier incident comes back to public memory, he should not be held responsible for it.
In the same set of remarks, Anbumani spoke about Nepal’s approach to receiving assistance, saying the country accepts all forms of help, including rescue personnel, from India and China, while taking only funds and materials from other countries. He said this arrangement is to avoid the complexity of coordinating multiple foreign forces.
He also praised VIT founder Viswanathan as a major education reformer who has successfully built a large institution in Vellore, and said the government should consider his suggestions. Anbumani further quipped that the episode could end up as comedy material in future films.
