DMK has launched a fresh organisational reshuffle by appointing 76 headquarters representatives—two each for 38 revenue districts—tasked with steering the party’s restructuring at the district level.
The move follows a decision taken at the DMK executive committee meeting held at Anna Arivalayam, Chennai, on August 22, where the party’s organisational districts were to be expanded from 77 to 110. A recent announcement formalised the new district split.
According to information circulating within party circles, the list of 76 representatives was finalised by a four-member team comprising DMK president M K Stalin, Youth Wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin, deputy general secretary Kanimozhi, and Stalin’s son-in-law Sabareesan.
The representatives have been asked to convene district secretaries and district executive committee meetings and help form new administrative structures. Within the next 15 days, they are expected to submit recommendations to reorganise units constituency-wise, including city, union, town panchayat, circle and branch-level structures.
To discuss and coordinate the process, a video conference meeting chaired by Stalin and attended by all 76 representatives is scheduled for 5 pm today. The list includes a mix of MPs, former MPs, MLAs, former MLAs, and functionaries from various wings including women’s and youth wings, party sources said.
