TAVEK MLA Kanimozhi on Tuesday said Chief Minister Vijay would be the prime ministerial candidate in 2029. She made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Coimbatore.
In her comments, Kanimozhi said the decision on who becomes prime minister in 2029 would not be made from Delhi, but would be determined from Tamil Nadu. She also predicted that Indian politics would witness a major change in 2029.
Kanimozhi further claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi played a key role in placing Vijay in the chief minister’s chair, and asserted that what was “predicted” earlier had materialised in 2026. She said the 2029 outcome would happen “firmly” as well.
Her remarks come amid recent controversy after Congress minister Rajesh Kumar reportedly said he would resign if Rahul Gandhi was not accepted as the prime ministerial candidate. Following that, state Congress president Manickam Tagore met Chief Minister Vijay for talks.
With Kanimozhi’s latest statement, a renewed war of words between TAVEK and Congress leaders is expected in the coming days.
