Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday said the Naxal threat in Chhattisgarh has been brought to an end due to strong political will, a firm security policy and development-oriented administration.
Speaking at the convocation ceremony at AIIMS Raipur, where he awarded degrees to students, he said areas once affected by violence are now being identified with roads, schools, hospitals, connectivity, investment and new development opportunities.
He noted that for decades some parts of the state faced hardship, poor connectivity and the severe challenge of Naxal violence. Places that needed roads and thriving schools instead saw obstacles and disruptions, while remote and tribal communities often experienced poverty and lack of access to healthcare.
Radhakrishnan said Chhattisgarh has now emerged from its troubled past, calling it a major achievement and “good news” for everyone, marking a new dawn of progress and prosperity.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisive leadership, Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s resolve and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s committed leadership for the state reaching what he described as a historic turning point, and said the transformation shows what political resolve, security measures and development-led governance can achieve.
