AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday criticised the Vijay-led Tamil Nadu government, alleging it has not come up with any creative or constructive plan to increase the state’s revenue.
Law and order, debt and concessions
Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore, Palaniswami claimed that in the 110 days since the government took charge, incidents of murder, robbery and drug movement have increased. He also said the state carries heavy debt, yet the government continues to announce more concessions.
Questions on corruption claims
Referring to the government’s repeated allegations of corruption, he pointed to raids by the vigilance and anti-corruption wing where cash was seized. He asked whether money being found in raided locations could imply bribery in places that were not searched, and questioned how the government could describe itself as “clean”.
‘Reels’ versus ‘real’ governance
Palaniswami further alleged that the ruling party relies on “reels” rather than real work, and made a sarcastic remark about Vijay aspiring to high offices, while insisting governance cannot be run through social media content alone.
