Ministers Anand, Aadhav, Rajmohan and Nirmal Kumar held talks with sanitation workers in Chennai who have been protesting for over two weeks, pressing a nine-point charter of demands.
The protest has been continuing for around 15–16 days at the Greater Chennai Corporation office campus. During the meeting, ministers praised the workers for conducting the agitation without disrupting public peace or traffic.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Rajmohan said the government stood with the workers “as brothers” and would move from words to action. He also conveyed that Chief Minister Vijay continued to have concern and affection for the workers.
Minister Anand said the demands would be implemented on the Chief Minister’s instructions and that steps that can be taken immediately would be finalised in consultation with the workers. Minister Aadhav added that the ministers had come to find a solution, while noting there were administrative hurdles in executing some measures.
