New Delhi: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced a major training exercise near the India–Pakistan border, triggering heightened attention across the border.
According to the notice to airmen (NOTAM), the exercise is scheduled to run for about 17 days, from September 21 to October 7. The training will be conducted in airspace covering the Jaisalmer–Barmer–Phalodi–Jodhpur sector and the Nal–Bikaner region.
The IAF is expected to carry out combat drills up to an altitude of around 40,000 feet. The notified area is reported to be close to the international border, at roughly 20 km distance.
The report said the announcement has caused concern and tension in Pakistan. It added that Pakistani security officials have convened an emergency meeting to assess and monitor India’s move.
The development comes amid reports that border security has been strengthened in an unprecedented manner following “Operation Sindoor,” with Pakistan closely watching India’s subsequent actions.
