Unseasonal heavy rainfall across Bihar has heightened flood risks, with authorities issuing a flood alert for 13 districts. The situation has worsened as water levels in major rivers continue to rise.
In the state capital Patna, several areas are reported to be waterlogged. The Ganga’s level has been steadily increasing, adding to concerns of further inundation.
Apart from the Ganga, the Kosi and Gandak rivers are also swelling rapidly. In Saran district, floodwaters have overflowed, affecting low-lying localities in Chapra.
Areas including Revelganj, Sonpur and Chapra Sadar have been impacted, with floodwater reported to have reached around two feet in some places. Residents in low-lying zones have been asked to relocate, while district revenue officials have been directed to ensure relief camps, drinking water, medicines and vaccination facilities.
