Minister Nirmal Kumar on Saturday said Tamil Nadu remains safe for ordinary people, but “there is no safety for the corrupt.” He made the remarks while speaking to reporters in Madurai.
Responding to questions on national politics, the minister said it was too early to discuss a prime ministerial candidate. He claimed there was no rift between TVK and the Congress, and described reports projecting “PM Vijay” as only media speculation.
On the state Assembly proceedings, Nirmal Kumar said two grant demands would be taken up after the Chief Minister’s reply on Monday. He added that the House has been functioning for seven to eight hours daily and that equal opportunities are being provided for all members to speak.
He also said the government has no interference in temple matters and would not repeat mistakes attributed to the previous administration. On the ongoing Vigilance and Anti-Corruption raid at “Nehru’s house,” he said it was not an act of vendetta and was being carried out based on complaints and evidence, with the department expected to share details.
The minister further claimed there could be a possibility of the AIADMK and DMK working together as a single alliance in the coming election, but asserted that no combination would be able to unseat his government.
