President of India Droupadi Murmu on Thursday honoured 48 teachers with the National Teachers’ Award at a ceremony held in New Delhi.
The awards are presented by the Union government on September 5, marking the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who served as a teacher before becoming President of India.
This year’s list includes two teachers from Tamil Nadu—Amutha, a teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Madurai, and Thangaraj, a teacher at a Panchayat Union Primary School in Puliyampatti.
At the event, the President presented the awards and conveyed her appreciation, congratulations and best wishes to the awardees for their contributions to education.
